The Geography Department, which was established in 1377 AH, is one of the oldest departments in King Saud University. It had had a major role in educating the Saudi students who made it to higher positions in our country. The Geography Department has been updating itself with all the new information at both levels of knowledge; general and specialised. It has developed its programmes and study plans for the BA programme. It has also created MA and PhD programmes for postgraduate studies. The result of such programmes was graduating citizens competent at their majors thank to Allah then to the distinguished national and international faculty members who received their degrees from a number of American and European universities. You can have an idea about the different fields our faculty members majored in by checking out their KSU homepages.
Not only did the Department develop its programmes and study plans, it also established an excellent infrastructure. It consists of labs equipped with developed computers and advanced programmes installed on them to be utilised in training our students on areas such as GIS, remote sensing, statistical analysis and other essential programmes. Therefore, the Department, with its competent faculty members and high-quality infrastructure, is able to conduct major research projects as well as holding training sessions for employees from both the public and private sectors in the fields of GIS, remote sensing and statistical analysis and other areas of geography.
As we heartily welcome our visitors, we are also more than happy to directly respond to their inquiries about and comments on the Department, its programmes and events. Thank you.
Chair of the Geography Department
