Facilities of the Department

The Mass Communication Department contains many practical equipment necessary for the educational process and the practical training process that the department carries out for its students. These equipment include the following:
 

First: Digital Visual Media Lab

The Digital Visual Media Lab is equipped to be a center for training and qualifying students in order to gain experience in audio-visual production. The Digital Media Lab contains 27 devices equipped with the latest Adobe design and production programs that support design arts in the fields of: InDesign, Illustrator graphic designs, Premiere editing, After Effects motion graphics, audio mixing, and other programs.

It also supports work on applications for students of the courses: photography, graphics, computer applications in media, press production, photo editing, and the design and production of strategic communication media, visual production, and audio production. In addition, it is always available to all students who wish to develop their production and design skills.

Second: Electronic Journalism Lab​

The electronic journalism laboratory is equipped to be a center for training and qualifying students in order to gain experience in journalism and electronic publishing. The laboratory contains 27 devices connected to the Internet so that students can access and search information sources. It is also equipped with a package of Microsoft Office programs that support: writing Editing texts, databases, presentations, and computer menus.

In addition, it contains the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for analyzing information and conducting statistical tests for graduate students. The laboratory serves courses: principles of media writing, computer applications in the media, news editing, new media, investigative journalism, electronic publishing, journalistic arts editing, scientific research methods, and master’s and doctoral theses. The electronic journalism laboratory is also available to all students who wish to practice writing, electronic publishing, statistics, and analysis of statistical information.

Third: The Weekly Pictorial Report Unit

The Mass Communication Department began producing a video television report in 1430 AH, corresponding to 2009 AD, aiming to document and publish the university’s various events and activities in all colleges, departments, and units.

The Mass Communication Department is responsible for producing a weekly news report aimed at documenting and publishing the university's various events and activities in all colleges, departments, and units.

It is prepared and presented by students of the Mass Communication Department so that this report becomes the nucleus of a training unit through which students are trained and qualified practically to face life in radio and television institutions and trained on the latest modern technical means and devices.
